Call aim: A Blueprint for Energy Interoperability
While sectors like healthcare, mobility, and public administration have made significant strides in digital infrastructure, the energy sector remains fragmented. This call seeks to fund a single, large-scale pilot to build a framework that consists of modular services enabling interoperable ICT connections within the energy domain and across sectors and multiple parties. The project will demonstrate the power of multi-lateral data sharing by adapting proven solutions from other sectors. It will focus on validating architecture, software development, and security-by-design (authentication, authorization, and cybersecurity), ensuring the framework is ready for future market deployment.
Overall objectives
The pilot’s goal is to deliver a reusable, modular framework aligned with European standards (e.g., EIRA, EIF). Key deliverables include:
Technical Requirements & Standards
The proposals must follow a holistic approach and avoid isolated, standalone solutions. To maximize impact and ensure replicability, the project should build on existing European digital foundations, as several sectors have already made substantial progress toward interoperable digital infrastructures:
Cross-sector data exchange between the energy and mobility sectors is particularly important in the context of current European strategies and developments. Therefore, projects are expected to collaborate with relevant initiatives, share knowledge, and adopt, extend, or build upon existing approaches.
Refer to the call text to find more details.
Mandatory Use Case: EV Charging Infrastructure and Grid services
To validate the framework, applicants must demonstrate a real-world use case focused on heavy-duty vehicle or public charging Infrastructure. The demonstration must enable data exchange between fleet Management, charging point operators, and grid operators.
